About the role:
The reporting platform serves INVIDI clients with reliable delivery data in the range of billion daily ad events that are processed, enriched, sorted, and stored in our data-pipelines and storages. The data tech stack is built to be a best practice implementation with built in data quality checks on a stack with, Kafka streams, Spark, Athena, MySQL, AWS S3 and GCS.

We seek highly dedicated, motivated, and passionate Developers --like you-- who can use the right tools to find the best solutions to problems. We embrace the Agile methodology and as part of a development team you will play an important role in all aspects of product development—design, development, integration, and testing. And you will share in the pride and satisfaction as your work makes it into production at INVIDI’s clients.

Our platform handles tens of thousands of req/s with sub-second response times across the globe. We serve ads to some of the biggest live events in the world, providing reports and forecasts based on billions of log rows. These are some of the complex challenges that make dev work at INVIDI interesting and rewarding. To accomplish this, we use the best frameworks and tools out there or, when they are not good enough, we write our own.

The team:
You will be a member of the “Reporting” team that is responsible for making sure that our customers have access to their latest data regarding ads, goals and campaigns that have been served and viewed by their users. They do this by building, running, and maintaining an excellent big data tech stack.

Billions of events, piped, correlated, corrected, and enriched through our systems to be served to our customers in a few different ways depending on what is preferred.

The team is driven from two directions: 

• the product and the business for strict reporting requirements
• the team “itself”, that has high ambitions on evolving our current “best practice” tech stack even more (with support from data platform organization in the US), make it more performant ad reliable as well as looking at and trying out new things.

Key responsibilities:

• You will design, develop, deploy and operate backend services that are scalable, durable and performant.
• You will collaborate closely with peers and product owners in an autonomous, cross-functional team.
• You will help other team members grow as engineers through code review, pairing, and mentoring.

You must have:

• An aptitude for analytical problem solving.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and work well in an Agile environment.
• Skill to quickly learn new technologies and work in a fast-paced environment.
• Deep understanding of object-oriented design, data structures and analytics, and algorithms.
• Deep understanding and experience of working with database technologies such as Kafka, Athena/SQL, Spark/Scala or Redis as well as Protocol Buffers and Parquet

It will be very good if you have experience in:

• Build tools such as Gradle or Maven.
• Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Developing and deploying RESTful web services.
• Industry knowledge of big data and distributed systems.
• Cloud experience with GCP and AWS and their services.
• Managing Kubernetes configuration e.g. Jsonnet

TECHSTACK

Most of the code we write is Java with Dropwizard, but every problem is unique, and we always evaluate the best tools for the job. We also work with or are looking at working with technologies such as SQL, Kafka, Kafka Streams, Flink, Spark, AWS (AWS Analytics Services, Columnar storage), Google Cloud (GKE, App Engine, Pub/Sub), Riak, Kotlin, Golang and Rust.
